This is the number printed on the citation (or summons and complaint document) issued to the defendant.
When entering the citation number, enter all of the digits and letters, but do not include any hyphens. For example, Y123456-7 would be entered as Y1234567.
Searches by citation number can only be performed on TRAFFIC and MUNICIPAL cases.
TRAFFIC citation numbers are found on the Wisconsin Uniform Traffic Citation and will be 8 characters in length and begin with a letter of the alphabet.
If issued on a typed / printed form, the citation number can be found in the upper right corner of the citation in the boxes labeled Citation No.
If issued on a handwritten form, the citation number can be found printed in red in the top margin of the citation.
MUNICIPAL citation numbers are found on the Milwaukee Municipal Citation (if handwritten) or the Wisconsin Non-Traffic Citation (if typed / printed).
If issued on a handwritten form, the citation number will be 8 digits in length and can be found in the upper left corner of the citation in the box labeled Citation Number.
If issued on a typed / printed form, the citation number will be 11 digits in length beginning with ‘006’ and can be found in the upper right corner of the citation in the box labeled Citation No.
PARKING citations are not automatically filed in Milwaukee Municipal Court unless the parking citation has been challenged or the vehicle owner has been summoned to court. Because of this, you must know the case number and perform a Search by Case Number to view information relative to these contested parking citations.
